Look what happens when you toast an already very ugly homemade cinnamon raisin bagel under the broiler and then walk away with the oven door closed to check e-mail. What's that smell permeating the kitchen and soon house? It's not so bad I think I can salvage my ugly bagel if I scrape off the black crusty edges and smoother it with cream cheese.
